Sequence Settings and file size breakdown

Recommended Sequence & Export Standards

1. Recommended Sequence Settings

For Explainer / Commercial / Promo Videos

Resolution: 1920x1080 (Full HD) unless client requests 4K
Frame Rate: 25 fps or 30 fps
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square Pixels (1.0)
Fields: No Fields (Progressive Scan)
Audio Sample Rate: 48 kHz
Working Color Space: Rec. 709

For Cinematic Videos

Resolution: 3840x2160 (4K UHD) if needed, else 1080p
Frame Rate: 24 fps or as per client request
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square Pixels (1.0)
Fields: No Fields (Progressive Scan)
Audio Sample Rate: 48 kHz
Working Color Space: Rec. 709 or Rec. 2100 HLG for HDR projects

Note: Consistency in FPS is crucial to prevent motion judder in final exports.

2. Recommended Export Settings

Format: H.264 (MP4)
Preset: Match Source - High Bitrate, then modify as below

Basic Export Settings

Resolution: Same as sequence
Frame Rate: Same as sequence
Field Order: Progressive
Aspect: Square Pixels
Render at Maximum Depth: Checked if color grading is heavy

Bitrate Settings (CBR for strict consistency, VBR 1 Pass for smaller sizes)

Content Type

Bitrate Mode

Target Bitrate

Commercial/Promo 1080p

VBR 1 Pass

8-12 Mbps

Cinematic 1080p

VBR 1 Pass

12-16 Mbps

Cinematic 4K

VBR 1 Pass

25-40 Mbps

Social Media (Reels, Shorts)

VBR 1 Pass

6-8 Mbps

Audio Settings

AAC, 320 kbps, 48 kHz, Stereo

Use Maximum Render Quality: Checked for scaling
Use Hardware Encoding: Enabled if GPU is available

3. File Size Limit Guidelines

Target file sizes for ease of delivery without quality compromise:

Duration

Approx. File Size (1080p)

15 sec

10-20 MB

30 sec

20-40 MB

45 sec

40-60 MB

60 sec

50-80 MB

90 sec

80-120 MB

120 sec

100-160 MB

180 sec

150-240 MB

240 sec

200-320 MB

300 sec

250-400 MB

If file size exceeds these targets without quality justification (e.g., heavy motion graphics, dense particle FX, high-motion content), recheck bitrate or re-export using VBR 1 Pass at lower bitrate.
